VW Wasted a Golden Opportunity

If you're not already aware, VW is bringing an all-electric Golf to the U.S. this year.

They've decided to call it E-Golf, which is a huge mistake if you ask me.

The obvious choice should have been Golf Charge Assisting Regenerative Technology, or Golf CART, for short.

Typical VWoA but at least the Mk7 is a great car. Have driven two (one 6-speed and one DSG) and they're just fantastic. Fits me like a glove. Almost certainly my next car, but I'll only be leasing one for ~3 years because come ~2017-2018 I want to get into a Model 3 or GTE or something along those lines. Would happily get into an electric car or plug-in hybrid sooner but that's how long it's going to take for fun to drive models to hit the market (Model S excepted, which is out of my price range and too large for my tastes anyway). Guess I owe the i3 a test drive before I commit to a GTI. That's the only option available today for me, though it's also pretty pricy.

The gas golf cart I use shuts off the engine when your foot is off the pedal. It's an even shittier stop/start implementation. An electric golf cart would be great.

My sisters 2010 Passat says bzzzt bzzzzt bzzzzt....not rolling those windows down.

Although I will say that it is 50/50 with VW, I have heard a lot of people say they are 100% free of issues for 5-7 years and over 100K miles. And then there is the Passat my sister owns...
